Mitch Thomas

Four year varsity letterman at Ritenour Sr. High School in St. Louis, MO 1995-1998. Suburban North All Conference – DH/IB Senior Season. Received a scholarship to play football and baseball at Missouri Western State College, but was unable to play out college career due to injury. Moved back to St. Louis to complete a Culinary degree at Forest Park Community College. Currently enrolled to obtain Bachelor Degree in Business Marketing and Sales Management.
Mitch is currently entering his 4th season an Assistant Coach at nationally ranked Washington University St. Louis NCAA D3 Softball.  He will also be a Volunteer Assistant at Wentzville Timberland High School this season. Coached the St. Louis Lady Spikes and St. Louis Pride Softball teams for 8 seasons. 14 of 19 players who graduated have continued playing in college. Daughter Katlyn Thomas is attending nationally ranked University of Missouri St. Louis NCAA D2 on a softball scholarship.

Mitch is available for baseball and softball hitting, catching, and fielding lessons. 

Gerrion Grim

Gerrion played high school baseball at Fort Zumwalt South from 2009-12. Gerrion then went on to play the 2012-13 season at Mizzou before transferring to Jefferson College. At Jefferson College, Gerrion completed his Associate Degree and contributed to the baseball team as pitcher and outfielder. During that season, Gerrion boasted a .343 batting average with 10 doubles, 2 triples, and 7 home runs. He also made 6 starts on the mound. In June 2014, Gerrion was drafted in 14th round as a Rightfielder by the Baltimore Orioles. Gerrion spent his first season in the Minor Leagues in the Gulf Coast League where he played in 26 games.  

Gerrion is available for baseball and softball hitting instruction and baseball pitching instruction.   

Ziggy Moore

Ziggy was a three year varsity letter winner at Wentzville Holt High School from 2003 to 2005.  Ziggy earned First Team All GAC honors in 2004 and 2005, Fist Team All State Selection in 2005, and GAC Player of the Year in 2005.  Ziggy then went on to pitch and play shortstop at Saint Louis University from 2005 to 2008.  After finishing his career at SLU, Ziggy went on to become the Assistant Coach at Forest Park for the 2010 season. Ziggy also helped lead the Affton Metro Collegiate Team to a 2nd place finish in the NABF World Series.  Most recently, Ziggy has been a high school baseball coach with the Missouri Longhorns and Team Missouri Baseball.  He currently is a lead instructor for Team Missouri Baseball and has also started the THZ Tribe baseball team.

Jeremy Koenig

Jeremy was a two year varsity letterman at Fort Zumwalt North High School in 2009 and 2010. He helped lead his team to a 24-4 record and a district title in the 2010 season as well as being selected 2nd Team All GAC. Jeremy was then awarded a scholarship to play infield at Lindenwood University from 2010-2011. After his baseball career at Lindenwood, Jeremy went on to finish his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science/Sports Performance. He has been the assistant coach for the Fort Zumwalt West Senior Legion baseball team for the past two seasons leading them to an overall record of 75-29.

Jeremy is available for baseball  and softball hitting and infield instruction.  Jeremy is also The Hitting Zone's in-house Sports Performance Trainer and is available Athletic Enhancement instruction and speed & agility training for all sports.  To request instruction with Jeremy or set up Athletic Enhancement training, please email Jeremy at jkoenig@thehittingzonestl.com. 

Meet The Instructors

Casey Moore

Casey was a three year varsity letter winner at Wentzville Holt High School from 2001 to 2003 earning First Team All GAC honors in 2002 and 2003 and an All Metro Team selection in 2003.  Casey then went on to play at Saint Louis University from 2003 to 2008.  Casey earned team MVP honors in 2008 and finished his career in the programs top 10 in doubles.  After being drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2008, Casey earned the honor of catching during the 2009 MLB Home Run Derby and catching in the National League bullpen durning the 2009 MLB All Star Game. From 2009-2012, Casey was the Assistant Coach of the Fort Zumwalt West Senior Legion baseball team where he helped lead the team to a 146-46 record, 3 District titles, 4 Zone appearances, and a State Finals appearance.  In the fall of 2012, Casey joined the coaching staff of Team Missouri Baseball. He is currently one of the organization's lead instructors and Director of Baseball Operations.
